Sterling Court Sky Active Living Celebrates the Remarkable Milestone of Resident’s 100th Birthday
Sterling Court Sky Active Living is proud to celebrate an extraordinary milestone: the 100th birthday of our beloved resident, Joseph Novak. Known affectionately as “Joe” by fellow residents and staff, Joseph has been a cherished member of our community since 2013.
Reaching a century of life is a rare and remarkable accomplishment, and Joe’s journey is nothing short of inspiring. Born on April 8, 1925, Joe has witnessed and contributed to a century of incredible change — from the Roaring Twenties to the digital age. His story is a rich tapestry of service, community involvement, and personal triumphs.
A proud World War II Navy veteran, Joe was recently honored for his service during a special three-day event at the National World War II Museum in New Orleans, alongside fellow veterans. His commitment to service extended far beyond the military. Over the years, Joe has:
- Played and managed a men’s softball team
- Volunteered regularly at Florida Central University and served communion monthly
- Taught English as a second language to Spanish-speaking individuals
- Won over a dozen gold medals in golf at the Golden Age Senior Olympics
- Worked with Habitat for Humanity and helped harvest oranges for Haitian relief efforts
- Served his church faithfully by making pierogies and bread
- Been recognized as a master gardener and botanist, even being invited to Disney’s renowned Flower and Garden Festival
- Remained a lifelong member of both the Knights of Columbus and the American Legion
To honor Joe’s centennial birthday, Sterling Court Sky Active Living is hosting a special celebration for residents, family, and friends. It’s a day to reflect on the life of a man whose spirit, generosity, and resilience continue to inspire everyone around him.
“Joe’s story is a reminder of the richness each resident brings to our community.” Said by Kellie Everson, Executive Director of Sterling Court. “We’re honored to be part of his journey and his milestones and to have hosted this celebration with Joe and his Family”
